MONSTER Tire Track Eel Question!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I hired a pet sitting service to watch my animals and tank while I was away for only TWO weeks. A quarter tank change was done on the afternoon of the 8th to make sure that everything was the best it could be. We left on the evening of the 8th. She was supposed to be there every other day starting on the 10th through the 20th. We got back at 2:30am on the 23rd to find the half the occupants of the tank dead, with the tire track rotting on the surface - you could smell the tank the moment you walked in the door. The "sitter" had left a note dated the 19th (a day she wasn't even scheduled to be there - she claims she mis-dated it) saying that the water was "murky" and that one of the plecos had died (she just left it in the tank). She never called at any point, even though she had 3 numbers to reach us at. She admitted in the note that she didn't think she washed off the nightcrawlers well enough (even though we showed her exactly how to do it). Also, the box of crawler (probably about 350+/-) that was in the refrigerator were all dead - they were only gotten a week before we left and ALWAYS last about a month & a half - clearly she had left them out at one point. It seems she came over only twice and just dumped all the food in the tank at once.

Does that explain things a bit more clearly?

This service claimed to be licensed, boned, insured, and a member of Pet Sitters Int'l - turns out she was none of those (even though she had the paperwork showing it all).

I intend to make sure she can never do this to another family.

For the IDIOT who said he wouldn't sue, you clearly don't deserve to keep ANY animals - someone who causes the NEEDLESS suffering and death of ANY animal should be made to pay in every way possible. I join in with the others who think he should just be banned from the board.

I would skip the law suit and file charges with the states atty. office for fraud. That will keep her out of business for good.

Damn.Terrible.
The "Bonded and Insured" thing sounds like their might just be a speedy return on your money!
When a judge (if it gets that far) sees that the fish were alive when the service took over, dead when they were relieved, you will get restitution.
I'd go for it 100% man.
I see people on those judge shows suing over 100-200 dollar amounts!!!!!!!
So you have every right.

bigfishsmallpond, Have you ever heard about animal rights? If you don't then you don't even deserve to have a pet fish!

why would hired sum one to feed your fish
when a famly member will do for free

Obviously he has enough money to hire a "professional" to do so, which is BONDED AND INSURED.
Family members aren't.And maybe his family is too busy to help him.
There are hundreds of reasons.
