Monster Water Keeper - My Tank Project: What Fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Why did you go from a AC110 on one half and a AC70 on the other. I would have used 2 AC110 filters. You did a great job putting the tank together.

I found an AC70 for only $20 and I just wanted to get something to help circulate more water on the opposite end of the tank of the AC110. My water is pretty clear as is, so filtration is not an issue. I'm not worried about things looking symmetrical. If I turn the filtration rate down on my AC110 it will prevent blowing all of my fish around the tank and with an AC70 that will be less of an issue, especially if I do angels.

With a 55 gallon you won't be able to keep a school of anything besides giant danios for life. Aggression will eventually be the end. If you had a larger tank my favorite combo for schooling fish and cichlids are rainbows and cichlids or monos and cichlids.

I used to have two AC70's on my overstocked 75. It was CRYSTAL clear, so you won't have any problems. That is a show tank. You need show fish! Personally, I would consider angels, loaches, maybe a small exotic pleco, a nice school of tetras, a nice school of cory cats, and a gourami or two.

That tank is amazing. It looks way bigger than a 55. Perfect combo with the background, driftwood, and PFS. Simply stunning. I would do a pair of acara's or whatever cichlids you prefer, a school of whichever tetra's you like and I would put 2-3 medium fancy pleco's in there. Like L200, L018, or L128. Whatever you decide on, make sure to post pics. And congrats on one of the best lookin 55's I've ever seen.
