I was at the store today and noticed an LED light for an aquarium called a "moon light". I have a few nocturnal fish i never see because they go into hiding if i turn my room light on even if it is on low. Anyone with the moon light suggest it??

i bought a used full spectrum? light set which also has 6 leds and im pretty happy with it it gives me a chance to see my ornate bichirs nightly activities and if i got a chick over it kinda helps to set the mood :naughty:

Cuban Jey with a chick  yeah they are made for saltwater but they work great for nocturnal freshwater fish the other thing we have done at the store is to build a large canopy and suspend an old flourescent light above the tank so that it is really dim only works in a dark room though...

pimping is what pimping does :grinno:

I added a fairly dim blue LED (Digikey # ) to my community tank as a moon light. I'll have to say that it is quite interesting to watch at night! The bigger fish tend to hide on the dark end of the tank, but my school of tetras hang out in the blue light all night long.

those lights look great and allow nightime viewing. i would get it if u have any nocturnal fish.

Sounds cool. I always miss out on what my BGK is doing... How long do those LED lights last?

LEDs last pretty much forever and take almost no power.

Depending on lots of variables like temperature, quality of your power supply, brand, etc, lifespan is something like 1-10 years of continuous duty.

I'm looking into moonlights for my Fronts and my saltwater.
