I have a bit of experience with Idols. I have had mine for going on a year now. Mine also ate from the second I placed him in the tank. The LFS store that I deal with had him for 3 weeks before they released him to me. They fed him on numerous occasions while I was present. Mine eats about anything you introduce into the tank. I feed him angel formula and Nori daily. He gets treats of Mysis, cyclopeeze, rods food, krill and NLS marine formula. I have wanted to try one for years and finally decided I was ready to take the challenge. So far so good. I dont recommend Idols to anyone personally but if anyone does want an Idol and just cannot resist I will say you will need a large tank, large quality skimmer, alot of LR, and I would also recommend a large UV sterilizer. Make sure the Idol eats in front of you, ask the store to see him eat multiple days(any quality LFS should do this for you), like someone said check the mouth region for visual sores, make sure that trailer fin is long and his belly is full and healthy. Sounds like your Idol is doing great, I wish you all the best of luck with him. They are very special fish indeed.

well the moorish idol and purple tang(from same order) are still swimming buddies and eating well infact both are food pigs..now they have a future tank mate in route i bought a scribbled angel from phishy buisness today... oh for those waiting on pics.. my new computer is here .up and running BUT my camera is not working right..iam not sure if the old computer did something to it or not so the cammera went to the camera repair shop today..pics comming as soon as i can get a cammera/computer working in sync..I PROMISE YOU i wont cheat you out of the pictures

make sure and include something with sponges in it, he is not an angel fish but, there is certain angel fish food prepared with sponges in it, I highly recommend it !!

yeap i already feed the angel/butrfly diet frozen cubes which has sponge in it and if you know of any other foods that contain sponge please let me know because my evental tank plans include numerous angels drawf and large in 3 tanks ranging in size from 175g bowfront to 200g 7 footer to a 210g ...currently i have 1 large angel and one large angel in route 3 drawf angels and 1 pygmy cherb angel

Hello,

THIS WAS NOT AN IMPULSE BUY.

I recieved my 4 1/2 inch moorish idol today from live aquaria divers den it is eating flakes, pellets and mysis and small pieces of regular wally world seafood counter frozen shrimp.

I have read and researched the "book material" on morish idols and thats not what iam looking for...the information iam looking for is actual sucess experience and your special tricks that you believe made the diffrence in sucess or failure,.

i have had mine for 8 3/4 hours and he is active just casually crusing the qt tank along with the 4 inch purple tang i got at the same time from the same place... he has been feed 2 times and chowed down both times... iam actually feeding the same flakes and pelets live aquaria was feeding him(happens to be my normal foods) but my mysis is a diffrent brand but he ate them well.. weather he ate some of the seaweed or not i dont know as i put it in just before i went out to mow the darn grass and most of it was gone when i came back in ..i am sure the tang ate some/most of it, but dont know if the moorish idol ate any or not.

Now the hard part to admit to... the kids done gone and named the poor fishy GILL.. i have avoided the nemo thing my clown is a GSM and i dont have a hippo tang

thanks for any input

Was this an impulse buy?:naughty:
(Moderators, please make a "slapping" emote so I can put it in right now.)

Still doing great... the moorish idol, purple tang and scribbled angel are all getting along fine and all 3 are eating like little pigs as if they will never see another bite of food ..
