I am thinking of getting a moray eel I found at a local restaurant but would like to have some advice/comments from experience hobbyists before buying it. I intend to house in my current 6x3x3 tank, with an option to upgrade to 8x4 in the near future. Tank mates include 2x 20" panther, 8" tiger grouper and 2 big angels and some big banners. Will the last 2 fish be safe? I hv the option of letting my friend adopt them if its risky... thanks

On the safe side I would relocate them. You don't know how the eel will be with them. He may or may not bother them unless they're a predator as well. I love the eels lost one haven't replaced him yet. Going for dragon moray. look fwd to seeing pics if you do.

Looks like a tessaleta eel. Extremely aggressive and grow very big, 60"+. I wouldn't pick it up. You never know how aggressive it will be in your tank. Some people can't even put their hands in the tank with these guys.

I have a green moray, it killed a 12" panther grouper, a 14" horn shark, and gave me 4 stitches. Mean as hell, but I also have a 13" Sohal tang that ownes the eel lol awsome fish !!!

Tessellatas are known for attacking even sharks in aquariums. If you really want an eel that looked similar maybe try to find a skeletor or if you just like big eels try a white mouth moray.
