i would like some info on them...like what size tank, pics, diff sp. could i keep one with a toadfish...thanx

toadfish are usually brackish right?

i picked up 3 moray's from another member that had a stone fish with them that he had acclimated up from brackish. most brackish fish thrive in full marine to my knowledge just bring the salinity up slowly and let it stabalize before you introduce the moray and make sure the moray is big enough the toad fish doesnt try to take a bite.

The common "freshwater lionfish" is actually a brackish/marine species of toadfish (not to be confused with "frogfish" anglerfish"), Bactrachus trispinosus. Sometimes you'll find the larger marine toadfish like Opsanus tau for sale.Cool fish, I used to keep 'em with my morays.

Sould be with the eel as long as the eel is a decent size, I'd aim for species that get around 30-36" like White-eyes, Brazilian dragons, snowflakes, etc.

i would do it slow, but it would endup full salt...

I have an orange toadfish and he gets along with my moray.

Are you talking about Full salt or brackish?

never heard of a brackish toadfish.....

If it is brackish dissreguard everything i say.

i have freash water in the toadfish tank now and i will be bringing it up to full salt...it was in freshwater at the store so i din't want to shock it... as moray are wicked and they fit my oddball style...i saw an orange toadfish at the lfs...another one i would like to get...also this toadfish is the only fish i have ever bought without doing research on first, but i did know alittle about what i was getting into...i now have spent the last few days reading up on them...to be honest i have liked morays and though about them, but your avatar is pushing me to get one...

what size tank...like a 180gal? how long could a 55gal work?

just a side note keep us informed of how everything goes, my lfs has had a scorpion toadfish for sale for months and i have kept my eye on it and have thought about getting it many times since it seems no one else wants it.

i will...i have had it for a few days now...it is semi-active, i haven't seen it eat yet...i have alot of feeders in with it and i drop crawlers in for it...idk if it eats them, the jar gets them or the feeders rip it up, but they aren't in there now...

Argh, so many erroneous uses of the word "toadfish" lol.... the I'm assuming the "orange fish" you guys are talking about is a Frogfish, or Anglerfish of the Antennaridae family. A scorpionfish is not a toadfish, it is a member of the Scorpaenidae family. Toadfish are members of the family Batrachoididae.

A 55 gal would work great if you stuck with the brackish species (grows 6-8 inches) and wanted to keep the equally brackish "freshwater" Moray eel, Gymnothorax tile.

If you want a smaller marine moray and a slightly larger species of toadfish like Opsanus tau, I'd say a 75 or 90 gal. They're not exactly active fish.

i want an angler lol sorry for the slight derailment.
