They are nearly the same species and their temperment is nearly identical. I'd say they are roughly the same. As far as looks go, I'd say Midas are more attractive and they look like a RD on steroids!
Then again, if you are buying a RD at nearly any LFS in the U.S., you are most likely getting a hybrid of both species. Also from what I've seen (atleast here in California), most of the common fish sold under the name "Red Devil" have more midas features in them to begin with. So either way you look at this, you are going to get a beautiful fish whether you go with the LFS or a reputable breeder like Jeff Rapps.
Here's my new bad ass. I'm nearly positive he is a male. Even at 3 3/4 inches:
And yes, he was sold under the name RD and is most likely a hybrid. Still though, I see alot of midas features in him. Very similiar to the Male Midas I bought from Jeff Rapps not long ago. Good luck with whatever you choose, the mutts or the pure Midas that Jeff sells.
Oh, I never kept a pure bred Labiatus. I hope you were refering to the common Red Devils and not a real A. Labiatus? Either way Jeff gets those from time to time too.

there's no way to say which species is more aggressive (imo) because within each species you'll find hyper aggressive super killers and others that are more laid back.
