seeing that there are hundreds of the baby ITs this season, i actually want to find it if the mortaltity rate is high.
please post to help fellow hobbysists keep their babies alive. :)

what killed it? lessons learned? tank set up? temp? feeding? tankmates?
any factor that could have killed or any factor that kept them alive would certainly be appreciated. thanks!

i just bought 100 myself so tips would be great lol

my best advice would be to keep water pristine, and less other fish competing ... hopefully you guys can promise to keep them alive, cuz if these r taken from the wild, imagine there r now prolly like a thousand less dats thats gonna be replacing the population in the wild. it would suck if these went to careless keepers

My advice would be when you do water changes, to slowly add the new water. I use hose water and during this time, it's cold so it'll really lower the water temperature quickly depending on the percentage. And it seems that people have a hard time when it comes to feeding. Small fish, I tend to let them go no longer than 3 days without food, but with the last Dats I had, they took frozen bloodworms after a day.

I plan on having lots of clean aged water on hand for daily water changes and perhaps bump the water temps up a bit. I think frozen bloodworms are a must at their size. And frequent feedings.

i totally get you. this is why id like to know more. ive had dats at 1" before and are now at 4-5". this is my first time at IT's and i think they are less than 1" when they come in. so im really getting as much info as i can.

No big water changes, Just x2 @ 25%\week. Keep water stable. Just get params correct before they go in. Acclimate for 1-2 hours max with Airstones . Make sure u have strong filtration.
5 years ago, I got my first dats. 4 indo 1/2 inch. I kept in a 15g with a rubbish internal and 3 died, so I bought 4 more and put in 100g with fx5's and 405, all lived.

Wc straight from tap, but prime water before adding back in
