My advice would be when you do water changes, to slowly add the new water. I use hose water and during this time, it's cold so it'll really lower the water temperature quickly depending on the percentage. And it seems that people have a hard time when it comes to feeding. Small fish, I tend to let them go no longer than 3 days without food, but with the last Dats I had, they took frozen bloodworms after a day.

Use water from a tap in the house and this wont be an issue. I use 5g buckets, and get water outta the shower. Doesnt hurt gettn a little excercise.

As for feeding...I agree w/ ya there. Never starve any juvies. Im gonna feed mine 3x+ a day....thats when I get em. Hopefully soon.

dats are pretty hardy fish. just treat them like you do all your other fishes and you will be good.

thank you to those who have replied! this is really gonna help a lot of the datnoid keepers. :)

keep them coming in! :D

i just bought 100 myself so tips would be great lol
me and you make at least 200 out of the wild:(

i sure will! picking them up maybe today or tomorrow! ill be getting 15, going into a 60 gal grow out with lots of driftwoods and plants so they can have their hiding spots when scared.at the size they're coming in, these are babies and are most probably afraid of humans. id prefer them to be comfortable now when theyre at this stage. they wont have a hiding spot anyways when they're at 4-5 inches! hehehe! :grinno:
