  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i could do it myself but hes a friend of mine and he said he will help. he is also an eletrician. most homes do use 15amp breakers the run on 14/3 wire. but when i installed my new breaker box i found that some of the wire in the basement was 12/3 which can run a 20amp.

just the 500w heater alone pulls 4.5 amps. each mh was pulling 2.7 X 2 thats 9 right there. i think the actinics were another 3 total. plus 2-4 amp for misc pumps. and i didnt even have the calcium reator pump running or the gfo pump. but the heater is the most.

a 15 amp breker can only hold 12 amps continuous. a 20 can do 17

worked with neptune yesterday to try and resolve the problem. we plugged the mh's into an different outlet across the room and the ph didnt move so i cant be getting interference from the ballasts. so i basically need to send the base unit in for service so they can check it out.

Bah that stinks...Im sorry man. Hope I dont have any issues when (if) I go the controller route.

it does stink. talked to some others that have the same issues. seems like they had a bad batch of base units.

i also tried the lights out last night. im lacking some light in the middle of the tank. not a huge issue. i definately should hang the mh's. i might do that this weekend if i have the time. it will spread the light out some.

the night leds are bighter on the right side then the left fixture. figures.

Where did you get the fixtures from again?

That is strange...I would complain. See if you can get anything out of it.

Their live help was pretty good in the past...havent dealt with them recently. If you need something to be replaced it has to be within two months otherwise you are just out of luck.

here is a picture of the actinics and the mh's. it looks more blue then it really is. im thinking of changing out 4 of the 8 true actinics to something a little more white.

I think that looks sweet. Awesome job with the rock work...I might add a couple ledges in between the piles though.

Light is a little blue...but to each their own. This look can be cool...and I like it...but I wouldnt use it on my tank.
