Looks perfect minus the ammonia.

The light is awesome...just a slight blue tinge to the substrate.

Eager to see it once you start stocking and get some growth on the rocks...that is the only way to tell really if it is blue enough/too blue.

i added 5lbs of manado live rock to help seed the coraline. i washed it in salt water (sg 1.030) for about 15min before i added it . didnt see any hitchhickers. ive been running the lights for about 4 hous a day. just the actinics.

i think a dkh of 9 is a good starting point.

the lights should be fine. 4 of the 8 bulbs have plenty of blue. the others are more of a full spectrum.

When you get smaller rocks to add later you can always dunk them in "revive" or the like to flush out hitch hikers...there is also RO flushing, but I think that would be more damaging.

ordered a par meter just for testing purposes. ive read that sps corals like between 200-300 closer to 300. id like to see what i come up with on both tanks. maybe im lacking light on my nano for my sps's.

yea 150w phoenix on my 28g and 2-250w phoenix on my 125. ive done some reading. par needs to be 100 minimum for most sps's. up to 500 max carefully aclimated.

did some more testing on my 28g. with some new test kits i found mag at 1600 and calcium at 480. also found that i have 0 iron. i havent tested iodine or potasium yet. im testing these elements to see if the bio plellets are stripping them out. apparently they may be. i started dosing trace elements 1 per week to see if it help sps's.
