We have a tigrinus catfish at work that sprints into action once he hears you touch the lid.

We have a 30" Niger cat in a 2000g display and he will actually eat out of your hand! The first year we had him though, he would hide and never come out. In the past six months though he has always been out.

bit selfish to post that with no pic/vid.:grinno:

Bump for potential pictures.

More stories, or input on intelligent/active catfish is also welcome.

Well, you've definitely hit the jackpot with giraffe cat. But hoplosternum littorale gets to about seven inches, is covered in armor, and acts like a little puppy. They get really mopey when alone, it seems, and should be in at least pairs. But OMG they eat out of your hand on the first try and love to explore and beg for food. Not aggressive and have a tiny mouth. Hardy. Hardy. Keep it in pee. Hardy.

Already own one, strange enough. Hhahaha. :D :screwy:

He's certainly active, and goofy, and perpetually in search of food. Likes to dig little pits in the soft, very fine gravel that's in the tank too.

I never thought of them as a fish you could hand feed. Huh, odd coincidence.

Pretty sure I've seen articles on Hoplo's getting larger then seven inches however.

Here's a page with pictures of a seven, and foot long ( :WHOA: ) Hoplo

My young Oxydoras niger, though he hides most of the time, becomes very active when he smells food (like most cats), and I've been training him to come and eat pieces of shrimp from my hand. I think he's an excellent fish and I wouldn't call him "dumb" by any means.

Cheers!

Simon

I'd say giraffee. Very active cat in the catagory you mentioned.

You mean you've survived this long without a new doradid?! You are strong. I'm on eight specimens and looking for what's next.
