So... 80 galons tank are to small to get Hoplerythrinus Unitaeniatus, right ? If im looking for active wolf for 80 galons i should take erythrinus erythrinus sp.peru, right ?
I think either one of those would well in an eighty. If I remember correctly there is not much size difference between them.

IMO......

Erythinus sp. Peru is shy and not very active. Erythinus erythrinus is the more active fish. Gold wolves Hoplioerythrinus are a good choice as they don't get to large and naturally shoal so play well with others.

On the aimara - curupira point.

Honestly it depends on what you are after and the price difference.

I have two of each.

The curupira are a great fish and to a point with a big enough tank ok with other non wolf fish that are too big to eat. They are active although I have found in a smaller tank 4' they tend to sit there. In my 8' he always swims in the open water.

Aimara tend to be more interactive as mine are always wanting to eat. I do however expect as they mature they will slow down. My two are currently 10" and 17". There is a very slim chance that you will be able keep them with others. As a single fish this is propably the one to go with.

It's difficult and given the choice I'm not sure which i would choose. If you were looking at an aimara I guess you would have a fairly large tank and it may be better to have a curupira and a couple of pbase or something like that.

I haven't helped at all really have I.

I got a picture of the curupira from the supplier.
I have to say, I was hoping for a darker and more mature specimen.
I haven't decided on what I'm going to do yet.

I would've guessed these were malas for sure..

but they are curupiras.

I know it comes down to whether I want to or not,

but $200 plus shipping (In CDN).. I don't know. What do you think?

For that kind of money I would want a much bigger/blacker one.

Thanks, yes it is normal for the wolf to be swimming around, Not as fast as the others in there but always visible and active. The great thing with curupira is that they are durinal not noctunal so don't tend to hide away when the light is on unlike a number of wolf species.

+1, that is a killer tank lineup.

Thats definatly a curupira and given a bit of time and size it will become the big black wolf you are after. I like the idea of getting a small one and watching it grow, gives me a sense of achievement. How big is it?

$200 plus shipping is a good price. I have paid alot more. My view is that a fish is worth whatever you are willing to pay for it :). To be honest I am not sure you would get one any cheaper anywhere else.

Of the two pictures posted, the bigger one is 10"
It's noticeably bigger and meaner as I'm told.

My concerns at this point are the fact it's a 4' tank (80G, 48x18x21)
and the wolf just playing the log..

Also rehoming the fahaka that's in the tank at the moment.

I'll post threads once it's in the works thanks man
