most aggressive centrel or south american chiclid for 50 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nothing in there is going to be a true "glass banger." The most you are going to get is a fish that is aggressive to other fish.

I think your best options for a larger fish in a 50-55 gal. are:
A. Lyonsi (It's like a mini trimac)
N. Grammodes (It's like a mini dovii)
C. Istlanum (It's like a mini umbee)
Green Terror
Jack Dempsey

And please do your research on these fish. Some are very slow growers, and some have the potential to get a smidge too big for a 50/55 gal tank, and you may have to upgrade to a 75 gal. in the future.

But if you are looking for a wet pet for a 50-55 gal, I think these are your best bets.

We have a lot of Grammodes fans here. I love Grammodes but they grow slow and have little to no personality until they get big.

Just for the record, what are a 50 gallon tank's measurements?

a GT gets 12" from what I just heard on my thread so thats to big for your tank just a heads up to another posters suggestion

Depends on the individual.

IMHO.....Jack's are more of a "wet pet." Mine watches me from across the room thinking he's going to get food, and is always at the front of the tank when anyone is in sight. He bites magnet glass cleaners, and bites my feed tube that I use for my catfish. Plus.....They look really nice if you get a good one.

Only problem with JD's now a days is that they get so inbred with all of the fish farms if you don't get a good strain that they can have deformities, not look as nice, etc... So if you decide to go this route, just make sure to look around and make sure the fish look super healthy and good.

But overall.....One of my favorite fish. It just gets a bad wrap for being so common, and can be inbred if you aren't careful.

how do I convince my parents to get me a 50 gallon plus tank can you give me some advice
