peacock bass can get downright mean at least mine did along time ago when i owned him but of equal size peacok bass usually cant stand up to these more aggressive cichlids.thor meeki;2359696; said:

I was looking at some Wolf cichlids today. Yeah I don't think I have ever seen something that nasty before. I think I am going to build my tank around a school of Texas cichlids.
the best way to look at this question (which never gets old BTW) is by genus, not species. My votes go to amphilophus or parachromis.
I honestly think Dovii is overated in aggression. I believe it's more preditory instinct rather than full on Territorial disputes. Yes they do have quarls because of territory I will say that and are not to be underestimated but In my 11 years of fish keeping I have never kept more aggressive fish than Good Ole Midas. They will take on any size fish take no prisoners. Dovii got teeth thats what they have the upper hand on.

I would say MALE Dovii. Umbee is a close second (First with conspecifics) and Midas in third.

Not a 14 year old ver here. Just looking for something different. I am tired of the same old fish store. I drive a little extra to find those mom and pops fish store. They always seem to have different stuff. I did like the Wolf Cichlids.

Sounds like me and you have the same personality fish but different species. My Dovii is still young yet but at 5.5" my Midas was kickin everyone's @$$.
dovii - people try to argue it and say because of it's size it's more aggressive.
