Most Attractive Female Species

Well I wouldn't call a dovii male handsome to begin with. It's a great looking fish, but there's definitely something ugly and nasty about them--part of the appeal!

Not to knock you guys, but I happen to think the complete opposite. I've seen some very nice female Umbees, but imo female dovii are just plain compared to males. And when it comes to severums, males tend to have much more color. Especially when it comes to Notatus(females are just flat out ugly). I find severums to be one of the easiest cichlids to sex. I do agree however that female la ceiba's are sexy. Especially in their breeding dress.

You may find severums among the easiest to sex, but the average person doesn't. If you look at pics not only online but in checking out other people's fish, you'll find lots of pairs in which the only real difference is the facial marking. I recently saw several pairs of Rotkeils in which the females were absolutely glowing! My Red-spot Turquoise female is only slightly less colorful than the male, and Golden severum females aren't far behind the males either.

Female Oscars can be a nice highlight for the Oscar fan, and female Midas and butti kick butt!
