Most difficult to keep species ......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hmmm, I still come back to the green spotted puffers, but then agin I wasn't as well setup then as I am now.

I'm shocked at some of the answers! i never had trouble with the cardinal tetras like so many have. as for the person that said they had trouble with the tropheus dubiobsi, too aggro? was that the problem?

I struggle with discus but I am fairly sure it has always been because I started with low grade not the best quality, mixed bag type.

I used to struggle with some of the less common cories but they are fine now.

sometimes the ignorence of stores pays off nicely...i know that everyone talks sh$% about wal-mart fish, but i got 4 8" butterfly koi, 3 8" scaleless koi, 2 8" multi color koi for $4 each they thought they were reg. gold fish...i said thank you....bye
That's a lot of bargain to me.:D

Gotta say Botia kubotai were the most challenging for me but these fish are mostly skinny and unlike other loaches, these were the only ones that won't last long enough for me wasting away despite their deworming treatments.

I don't have troubles keeping cardinal tetras. Neons on the other hand are a special case. They drop dead easily. I had a friend whom I advised to get cardinals instead of neons. He was intrigued so he got both and the neons dropped dead overnight for him. Next thing I knew, the shop where he got them from also lost all their neons. All his cardinals survived though and so did the shop's.lol

Have to say 'm w/ the Cardinals. though i still think it's the batch of fish.. not my husbandry... I still have 2 cardinals from a batch of the original 10 I bought. They are very hardy now that I've had them for some time. I've never had complete failure in keeping any particular species in of itself.. but I have had trouble keeping many of the more sensitive species. I've needed to get more 'n one or 2 specimens to "keep" any of them happily. Trial, Error, Advise. Constant desire to improve the habitat/care/husbandry of my pets.
