Well there are a lot of extremely expensive fish... i know snowy the AUL has been sold recently for lots of cash, but is there a record for the most expensive fish?

Well one of the most photographed fish at Aquarama 2007 is also one of the show's most expensive - a platinum arowana. It is the Osteoglossum species from South America, rather than the usual Scleropages from Asia. It was recently offered for sale to prospective buyers by a UK arowana importer for more than £200,000. Although apparently the owners of the fish, Aro Dynasty, are not offering it for sale any longer.

So where's that kid that sold his for 4 and a half K. Sounds like the buyer got a bargain lol.

So whats the most expensive fish ever. Worth or most expensive fish that has actually been bought?

I heard that there was a platnum arowana in japan I think that sold for $100k

not sure though

Dropping 100K on a fish? I might go for a Lamborghini first, but if you can afford one, you can probably afford both.

yes i guess there is a point that your spending money because you can and have enough it doesn't mean too much. I would be interested to see what makes a person willing to splash that much cash on a fish, your hobbyists not trophy collectors. Then again... that might just be it.

What do you call a trophy collector?
It is like anyone else, you see a fish you like and then buy it. The price is inconsequntial, the reason I say that is b/c some people find spending $50 on a fish a lot , while others find that price resonable. If I am going to drop $100K on a fish I will obviously consider that fish worth it and I probably will when I find the fish I am looking for. Rare fish demand high prices and thats what keeps this world (hobby) going around.

Think of the most expensive fish any of you have personaly bought, now was that fish worth the money you paid for it? In the end the decision is yours.
