Most graceful, active, easy care FW fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea u cld make like a bio wit a warterfall u cld make it sweet!!

You can not get any more graceful than an Arowana ( Try Blacks as they do not get as big as Silvers) These could hang in the top level. For the middle levels a huge shoal of Bala Sharks, RedHook Silver Dollars or Black Bar Silver Dollars or a Giant gourami and on the bottom a pair of Motoro Rays.

The most important thing for you is to chose what pleases your eye but make sure to use each level of the tank Top, Middle and Bottom otherwise it will not be balanced.

You can substitute the arowana with chalceaus or gars. The stingrays can be swapped for Polypterus species.

The other consideration for something cool is to use medium sized fish in large schools. Danio's, Chalceus, or other schooling top water fish in groups of 30 fish.

Rainbows can not be beat for the middle layers of the tank as they come in a wide variety of colors.

Cardinals and clown loaches for the lower levels

Either way you go, there are countless combo's for you to work with.

Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Please keep the ideas coming. I am not also considering saltwater fish only or a simple reef.
Thought about maybe 300 or so blue damsels with pillar, arch, and table rockscaping yet keeping the water column open as much as possible. Maybe one or two large angels or maybe even a colorful grouper to keep the damsels actively moving amongst the rockscape.
Thoughts?

A large school of filament barbs. Google them to get a look at them. The males will get a cool fluorescent sheen when breeding, also their fins will get a featherlike look to them thus the name filament. They max about 6 inches are active and you could keep neons with them with no promblem should you decide as they are non-agressive. I have 5 in my 80 and they are my favorite fish. YOU could also do a exoctic pleco syunshine pleco comes to mind.
