Just my opinion but I truely believe arowanas are ugly, would NEVER have one. For bottom feeders a TSN or red tail cat, off the botttom a large Distichidus or Pacu I like a lot but prefere groups of pretty fish, think this may be impressive.

ur a let down

red arowannas are king but another great one is a big snakehead at feeding time. that is the one fish that will leave a lasting impression on anyone. the first time i saw a clip on youtube of one eating a 10 inch bass i wanted one to bad i cant have one in ny

to each his own...

P.S. You oscars are fighting because they're oscars...:D
P.P.S. your trio or RBP's will probably end up being one big RBP...:D

i think a large tigerfish is pretty impressive.:headbang2

Hands down.. Fahaka Puffer.

Colorful, active, playful, responsive, killer..

Everyone always 'remembers' the puffer, and all the other tanks are 'just fish'..

Excellent answer! Most people will never actually see a full grown fahaka in their lives but those lucky enough are invariably awestruck. I meet up with people I haven't seen for years and one of the first things they do is ask about the fahaka.

You said earlier this is SW right? I can't remember, and everyone has been posting FW so I'll say this.

IMO:

FW- Planted discus tank, and not that 75g crap. No need to go crazy here, 200-300 gallons would make room for a good 10-15 school of discus with some clown loaches in bottom and maybe a small school of dithers.

SW- I would have to say dog face puffer or stars and stripes puffer

Give me a 100cm, 25lb mangrove jack. When I first saw one in an aquarium I almost fell over. I have a royal clown knife, pink GG, silver aro, RTC, aussie lungs but in this category the jack takes the cake.

:topic:
but i'm always irked when people refer to FW as "tropical"

also, aros of any kind dont do it for me.
anyway, for FW
cuban gar
gator gar
rays for sure.

SW, sharks - especially smooth hounds. clown triggers/ other big trigs.
