most overly filtered tank thread!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Currently on my 125 I have 2 ac 110s, a xp3, a proclear w/d filter with a 2200 pump, and a fx5!!

500x2
400x1
600x1
900x1

2,900 gallons per hour.

Everyone needs to keep in mind FX5's are rated at 900gph with no media. Clean media knocks them down to 625gph, even less as the media gets dirty.

i think im gonna ramp up filtration on my soon to be 29 gal reef tank so that all the corals look good and i can post it here.

Why do you assume that I have media in my fx5? And how do you know that the exact media that I do not have in there cuts it down to exactly 625?

Well if you don't have media why would you run an FX5. That's one expensive circulation pump. 625 is what the manufactor says they run at with new media installed.

this thread is making it seem like thats a lot. Some of you should read into the Reef Hobby, keeping SPS corals particularly. The tank above has about 23x turnover. My 90 gallon has 35x turnover. 30 is about standard for keeping SPS corals

i know its not the most overfiltered but my 20ga has an AC110 on it.

lol this thread is fun. :D and does live rock count as filtration in a saltwater tank? just wondering if people think we should include that
