Most overrated bands?

Bottomfeeder This is exactly why I added under my post that I was strictly talking about post 90s modern metal in America. America had great music in the 80s and also early 90s, but what a majority of Americans would refere to as metal these days is just a joke. European metal is popular all over the world, especially in Japan and south America. American metal bands like those Lep listed are only liked by Americans and people with serious social issues.

I will give you this Bottomfeeder, I'm not in to punk but Bad Religion were pretty awesome

I listen to mostly grunge and punk (real punk, like Sonic Youth and Bad Religion and Social Distortion) and other early alternative rock from the 90's... obviously not Leppy's thing, but to say that America doesnt make good music isnt fair, and it's extremely inaccurate. I'm not sure why I am arguing with someone who likes hair metal though... Europe... jeez... :ROFL:

Oh, I hope I dont get hit with shovels for this, but I absolutely cannot listen to Bob Marley. Some of my friends are into it... I just dont get it. Redemption Song is one of my least favorite things I have ever heard. My friend made me listen to it on the way to a herp expo and I almost jumped out of the car on the turnpike.

As far as true metal, not grunge-ish metal like Soundgarden, AiC, Tad, Skin Yard, etc... America has produced Pantera and Tool. Cant argue with that.


Oh, I also hate Metallica. THEY are overrated as hell.

You think metallica is overrated?
Pick up a guitar and say that,its not just noise,without metallica half of the metal bands wouldnt exist,and the metal that has branched off wouldnt exist

Metallica over the last twenty years have been so so but their first 10 years opened the doors for every metal band that has followed.
 
Meh. Some of their early stuff is alright. For Whom the Bell Tolls is a very good song. Most of their stuff is just generic radio rock to me.

If you are referring to their pre-CFH days, then I like to pretend those dont exist. :grinno: Alice in Chains started the same way and they are in my top 3 bands.
