Thanks for the info on the taxonomic classification. I originally thought they were an undescribed species, but I was led to believe they were vazzo's. However, I swear there's a sport fishing outfit in Brazil that offers Rio Trevasseo as one of it's spots. I'll have to research a bit but I'm pretty sure that they even use that pic on their website. If that's the case, I'd imagine that there might be a slim hope that some will get out of that area into the hobby someday. I hope. That is one beautiful fish.

Very true. The site you are thinking of is Acute Angling formally known as Amazon Fringe which is ran by Paul and Gary Riess. I will be making a trip in February next year to this area with Paul as the guide.

This is going to sound basic because a ton of people have these, but being 17 and still living with my parents, I dont have enough money and space to set up HUGE tanks like other guys on the website, I could only dream about keeping a school of about 4 azul and 3 or 4 pinimas and a couple of rio negro orino, but thats just me...

Yeah, I haven't seen them for sale as juvies since last year. The next time they come up I am definitely buying some. They are my realistic (money wise) dream cichla, lol.
