hi im getting 10 x red tigers in a few weeks just wondering what other cichlids can go in with them its a 180g tank all setup up for them but will be thinning them down to 1 pair any suggestions on good tank mates thanks
A mphilophus or vieja or equal. Anything that looks just like them will complicate things. If it were me I would get sd's or some kind of dithers.
These are next on my agenda. I'm absolutely sick of my panic prone rescue jag & im putting 8 rio blanco's in his tank.
I've had some crappy service lately with vendor (s) so im gun shy ordering a set. No tracking # & getting cheap shipping when I paid for overnight among other things is a pisser. I wish I could order quality fish locally

I would say a pleco and that's about it...
.....but seriously...I am probably not the best at suggesting tank mates because I tend to keep fish I want to be showpiece in their own species tank from the start...or if I have to have other species I throw up a divider to stop any drama...having said that some years ago I kept 5 parachromis i was growing ,sold as motas(could have really been freddies) in my 150 with a couple of salvini and Jack dempsey's...I had no fatalities until I got a pair and removed the rest.... with what you are planning bear in mind that motas growth rate is moderate( at least mine at around a half inch per month give or take some I seem to be experiencing ).. so any thing that grows bigger, grows faster and /or is too aggressive I would stay away from so as to not hinder the motas development.... .. Just thought I'd update this thread... I currently have my male mota in my150,... took the divider and the fish on the other side out, because one morning when startled my big male /tex hybrid jumped it, to the motas side.. What I have now with is a second small female in a set up of PVC and rocks that only she can get in and out of... been leaning towards getting some silver dollars as the dithers.... male is very outgoing just want to make the female more comfortable and disperse the aggression until she can gain size and maturity and can hopefully attract him to spawn....
The first female i had is in a 120 with other fish and has recovered from the beating the male gave her a while back .. excretes waste and lays eggs out the side of her body....
