Mine again.... Stampion you got a nice mota, I hope it turns out the way you want him to but I have to say that yours got some thickness to him too and once upon a time my mota and the other one looked very similar to yours.....

Isn't that shape more a sign of age if anything?

All the big old Jags I've seen get that shape too.

I've never kept the parachromis family, but I've done lots of reading and watching videos - and that shape seems pretty common.

Yeah I agree I've seen lots of videos with Jags that got the big round shape.... I think the biggest factor is the size and weight of the fish to give the rounded shape... You can maybe get an older fish that's not that big that doesn't have it, or have it to the same degree....

at what size/age did yours lose the torpedo shape and become more round?
 
IME, Parachromis are prone to the hump back look as they age, but aren't necessarily destined for it. Most humpback fish will show signs early on, say 6 inches or so, and the condition will continue to exaggerate as they age. I've seen very large jags with both humpbacks and streamlined. There are big, long, straight fish out there, they just can be hard to come by.
