I love breeding fish. That is my personal passion in this hobby. But I too have gotten bored with my freshwater setups, so I plan to make a 125 saltwater tank. The fish are more colorful and interesting to me personally. So I am going to keep my breeding cichlids and then have my saltwater tank (eventually plural). :)

bigger and better set-ups/care/species... at the end of the day I love raising my own monsters and I enjoy seeing them grow and develop... my personal goals focus mainly around raising fish to wild sizes... so it encompass' every aspect of keeping them... I found at the end of the day having a lil' bit of everything keeps me busy. I also hope to keep some of my species well enough that don't normally breed in captivity to do so.

And any species I've been told are "impossible to keep long-term" are always on my to get list. To me there is no greater challenge/enjoyment then seeing a species thrive in my care that a majority can barely keep alive let alone thrive.

I find that I am really struggling to define this very question for myself right now. With the injury to my GATF and the other problems I've been running into with my pets, I'm having a very hard time staying motivated.

I find myself new goals and give myself a purpose. When I first started a little over a year ago i bought some tiger barbs and a pearl gourami. Then I joined mfk. I quickly fell in love with Datnoids and certain species of catfish. I went and bought every Datnoid I came across in my travels. I quickly came to realize that they weren't all stable, all the time and that there were different species. I ordered an ntt. My goal now is to weed out, so to speak, the non stable ones, or replace them with a different species. I recently picked up a silver dat, and an ngt is in the works. I could keep talking, but you get my point.

Future projects, changing up stock and tank layouts, new purchases, learning something new. Sometimes life just gets too busy and the hobby becomes more of a burden that a joy, but during those times you have to press on and do what has to be done as, at the end of the day, the fish are pets and rely solely on you for care. When I find I am having a dip in interest in the hobby and cant change things up for what ever reason I research subjects I only have basic knowledge of and watch a couple docos and it normally picks me up.

Predatory catfish are the best to hand feed. You could get an electric catfish and grab him every once in awhile. That'd spark up your fish life. Or try to get your hands on a couple candaroo and throw a whole ham in and watch em go. Or back to the old classic. Get a friend over and you both put a finger in the dovii tank and play chicken.

Something else to try would be a turtle, or a planted tank. You could also convert one tank for maybe snakes, frogs, lizards.......

My tanks are fully stocked and I don't intend on selling any fish so I've turned my focus to aquascaping.

+1.. When I find myself becoming bored with my aquarium I re-scape it. I think aquascaping is what I actually like most about this hobby.
