When I woke up this morning I saw that my motoro's right rib is bleeding. Every layer seems to bleed. But only the right portion. He still swims normally. What seems to be the problem? His only tankmate is a silver arowana, tank is bare-bottom. I don't want to lose him:(

i dont think a silver arowana would have anything to do with it. but where he's bleeding are there cuts?

Whats your tank decor?

pic?

The arowana is a possibility...what size are they both? Any pictures?

I'll post some pics later. 5 mins or so. No decors at all, and I think there are no cuts, just every layer of the right rib are bleeding. I'll try to take a pic of it now.

Here's the pic. As you can see the right portion is more red because of the bleeding. Sorry for the crappy pic.

Since you think there are no cuts or any signs of physical damage on the ray, the arowana can now possibly be ruled out as a suspect. I believe the ray ate something hard/sharp and that could have damaged the ray's insides causing internal bleeding.

Any new additions to your tank lately? Has your ray been rubbing itself lots or going up and down the glass more lately? Did you just do a waterchange? Feed any livefood?

The arowana doesn't bother him, they don't bother each other. I just did a water change yesterday about 25%. I only feed him shrimps and bloodworms alternately. He used to do the ups and down the glass more often before, but not too often anymore. What should I do?

If it is along side of where his ribs are maybe was was compressed/squished in a way?
Maybe he got stick behind something? Force from the top of him on the top right side could have forced his ribs to come through a bit. Just a hypothesis. Is the blood coming out of the gills or the skin itself?
