How many other threads in other sections do you see 24 inch peacock bass or Dovii or max size Angels?
The mother to my Marble female was over 20 inches and my female is over 18 inches and marbles do not grow as big as normal motoro, when you see one swim up the glass you realise just how big an animal 20 inches is, it is not like a 20 inch eel, this is a heavy and robust fish. I saw an old motoro at over 26 inches and she was a monster.
When my 18inch male died he was really heavy and he was much smaller than my female., how he flipped her to breed I will never know.
A 20 inch plus ray puts out a lot of waste, that is a huge amount of ammonia dumped in to a small glass cage.

I can well believe a 27 inch ray would snap tie straps, my 2ft fire eel hangs out in a 7 inch diameter bamboo log, it is cable tied at the top to egg crate and the bottom half is full of gravel, my female ray pushes that around like a twig and has snapped the cable ties before, I had to take out a heavy clay pipe as she used it like a toy and I thought she was going to break the glass.
Looks like motoro get too big then. You guys think a 8x4x2 would house one for life? If not I could just donate her and maybe get some leopoldi instead. Do those stay a bit smaller than motoro? I guess my question is. What Ray would live happily in a 8x4 tank?
I expect a marble motoro would be fine as would a male motoro, the Leopoldi and other black rays also get big. An 8x4 is a big tank and I expect many adult motoros both female and male have lived in one.
