i think it's a hybrid of midas/blood parrot. i'd say normal LFS rd/midas but the mouth looks more like the BP beak. cool looking fish though. :)

def a red devil

Too thin and long for a RD. I am thinking the BP/RD may be it.

I should add that it is about 7 inches long

It very well could be part Jd,look at its mouth,same as a JDs.The odd coloring throws you off cus there's no JD spots but I've had hybrids that look more like the father than the mother and visa versa.This isn't the just typical RD/Midas you see in stores.

That is for certain. I have been in this hobby for 25 years and I know a RD/Midas when I see one. This def. has RD in it, but there is something else.

It's obviously a CA hybrid...

and we could spend 3 months speculating about what it might be... but there is no way to know what it really is...

JD's do not "molt" therefore it was labeled as a lie to sucker someone into thinking they had something rare... when in reality it is simply a mutt, which isn't rare at all...

Now don't assume I am belittling the fish by calling it a mutt. I don't personally keep hybrids, and I highly oppose mislabeling hybrids to create sales... but labeling it a mutt is simply using the term per it's intended use...

I would say RD/Midas and somewhere has some BP in it too..
