mottled sculpin!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
oh yah keeping the 10 gallon up and planting it a little thicker...so the guppy fry can live with out the breeder box, and food!!! for the sculpin

Nice sculpin. You've kept him alive for a year so you're doing good :)

69-70 should be fine with well oxygenated water (that's the key to keeping them happy), though you don't wanna really go above that temperature range.

They sure can swallow some pretty big stuff. All they are is a big mouth stuck on a body, lol. I had one eat 2 baby plecos that were half the size of him.

Have you tried feeding him pellets? We got ours on them by using a powerhead to push them around the tank so he'd chase them. Though, after he started eating pellets good he got really lazy and no longer chased fish or anything :screwy:. He'd just swim around and gulp pellets off the bottom and ignore everything else. They're opportunistic, so I guess he figured with a good supply of pellets he didn't need to waste the energy catching fish.

I have a higher powered bubblier in the tank and the filter witch is rated for a 30 gallon (hes in a 10) above the water about an inch to help with the oxygenation ^_^, got him out of a lake so he dose not seem as picky about water movement.

Haha he took to pellets very well in the beginning acutely and hates flakes..spits them out like WTF....
but sens he has been eating guppies...and the otto he dose not seem to want anything anymore, he refuses to eat the pellets and it takes him forever to want to eat the blood worms so kinda the opposite thing here,

I finely got him to eat blood worms last night after leaving him for the weekend
and the guppy fry should be big enough when his tank is ready,

Trying to speed up his tank set up with filters from the other tank and its water..been up a few days with some feeder goldies in it, going to be putting in the logs and plants today, ill get pics up as soon as i can

ok so here are a few shots of the new setup (the time stamp is messed up ignore that i took them yesterday )
this is how it looks now, couldnt get any great shots, ill get better ones soon
might also move the a few of the plants around still
question though..i used 5 gallons of water from the 10 gallon that is up now and a dirty filter from it, the tank has been up for..oohh7 days now and no sign of cycling..even with the goldies in there...do you think its safe or should i wait a few more weeks before moving my fish to its new home

I love how you put the rocks, agian very nice aquascaping!

went collecting today!!!
got lots of big scuplin and kept 3 smaller ones, i believe one is a slimy scuplin/mottled mix, and i think is a male
the other two are about the size of the one in the pics above, going to give them the big tank to them selves for a while then add, the guy we have had for a while^_^
they dont seem to mind each other and follow the larger one around pics coming soon !!!

UPDATE!!!!!!

okkk..*deep breath*
I lost one of the smaller females to ..what i believed to be a wound from possibly being caught.. a few days later i lost the other. The large male i first believed to be a hybrid of some sort was chasing them down and beating them...erm *sigh*..so i shipped him off to a friends 55 gallon planted guppy tank..where he is now fat and happy.

My original lil scupin is now in her happy home devouring clouds of guppy fry!!

after the loss of the first two and passing on the larger male i went back and found some sculpin fry ..tiny little guys so i threw about 5 in to the 25...well a few didn't get eaten and are growing fast !

one has figured out how to hid in the frobit on
