Moving a 400 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say definitely six guys if its glass. I just bought a used 220 gallon aquarium on Wed and it was a struggle with four guys. You might even want eight, if its glass. If it's acrylic, you should be fine with four people.

As for the suction cups, if you have a good brand and are SURE they are attached then they can work great. However, if you are not extremely confident that they will stay in place then I would do without them because about the worst thing that can happen when moving the tank is to have the grip slip off.

Good luck and please post pictures!

I would use straps if it were me I had a bad expereiance with suction cups but also I had some clowns helping me.

I'll probably just use suction cups to lift and put straps under. The owner of the tank has put me off two days saying he's had to work. So I'm hoping to get this done tomorrow. I had 5 willing to help but I don't know who can help on Sunday. Hoping this guy gets his crap together finally.

+1 on straps, if it's glass I hope you guys gave strong backs it's going to be heavy!
Good luck and post pics of the setup

Me and 2 buddies recently moved a 220 to a third floor . I envy you with 4 people.

You can rent the quality suction cups. The heavy duty ones are legit. Being able to grab onto a handle makes all the difference in the world. Carrying my 300 Deep Dimension was way easier with the suction cups.

Where were you able to rent them... BTW this whole thing is at a standstill, the Guy who has it claimed he was on call all weekend, said hed be off sunday, but then didnt reply Sunday to my texts. Im a bit pissed, but what can i do perhaps he will contact me today, if not well i may just save a bit longer and order a new one.

Sorry to hear about your luck with picking up the tank.

It might cost a little more but you could probably have a moving company move it for you. You will just have to get the guy to agree to a time. Is the aquarium glass or acrylic?
