When you're preparing to move the fish, I would suggest decreasing the temperature in your tank a little bit each day to acclimate your fish to colder water. That way you will not need to heat the water when you move it. The cooler water will contain more dissolved oxygen. A knife fish will do fine in temperatures in the low 70's. You might even decide to keep the temperature lower in your new tank when you arrive - your fish will live much longer due to the decreased metabolism.

lowering the temp, slows metabolism, slower metabolsim requires less oxygen, with the monsterfish requiring less O2 + all the preparations mentioned above = safe fish all the way home hehe:D

also, when my dad was buying live lobsters and had to bring them about 3hrs drive back to Davao City, they first force the lobsters to 'sleep" by cooling the water with ice then they put ice in the styrofoam box, a single layer actually then they wrap the lobsters in newspaper and stack them in. in Davao city they unpack the lobsters, let them sink in the water after a few minutes the swim away.. can you believe that? oh by the way my father works in the aqua agriculture just added info hehe
