Who ships fish as checked luggage?

Matteus Matteus said that was his plan....drive 4 days with the tank, set it up, and then make a 2nd trip by air with the fish as checked luggage.

Only you have presumed that I would travel with it as my checked luggage. Please don’t put words in my mouth

Just because I fly while they are flying doesn’t mean I am checking them as my luggage. You assume I’m stupid or something???

I am planning to drive most of my stuff down in a uhaul and tow my truck on a trailer behind it. I plan to put a 300g aquarium in the back of my truck before putting it on the trailer. Want to get it set up on the other end and have my fish here packed up and fly on the plane with them when a tank is ready on the other side.

You said you have 300-400 gal tanks. You're going to carry all those fish as carry on baggage?

I suppose it's possible if you charter a plane or fly one yourself.

Many years ago, I worked for a prominent airline in STL. We shipped/transfered fish by the thousands every week. Those boxes got tossed and slid in the bay just like any other piece of luggage. That being said though, I never had one break open or bust that wasn’t already damaged. If you were to actually witness this in action, you would think for sure they would all be dead. You would also know why your luggage handles, wheels, etc. were damaged. Most people have no clue to how little time you have to load a plane.

Is it weird that I'm now thinking of ways to strap a ray to my body to smuggle it aboard a plane?

Nah.... It’s only weird when you start buying the materials to do so.

Were they shipped as checked luggage?

Air cargo and checked luggage aren't the same.

Exactly dude, that's what we've trying to tell you for how many post now, sheesh. So why do you keep going on about checked baggage? Matteus never mentioned anything about checked baggage, it's only you going on stupidly about checked baggage that nobody is considering to do.

In fact Matteus specifically says in post #8:
Shipping a package as fragile cargo isn’t as complicated as you may seem to think. It happens all the time. "

My suggestion is to really read posts before you actually reply and start sputtering unrelated nonsense that's in no way useful to the discussion at hand.
