Is netting these big guys a no no b/c the dorsal? or should i towel him into the tank? or just grab him? I don't feel like getting cut up. I've been stabbed by a few catfish and that's never fun. I'm looking for the best way to get him out of the shipping container and into the tank without hurting him or me.
Hope you get a monster datkoop171;3006141; said:Thanks everyone. I'll post pics of him once I get it. There is still a very slight chance that I don't get it b/c I have still not seen it. I have only seen one that's comparable.
what I mean by that is. the guy currently has one 12"+ indo at his place. and I tried buying it a few times. now he says he can get another one that looks almost exactly like his but a little bigger. so as long as it's the same size or bigger he's comming home with me.
so look for an update on monday.
thanks again for all the help.

dats are really easy to get of feeders.
Once this guy has a taste of feeders, it's very hard to get them off.flamenco-t;3005787; said:Put both hands on the dat's belly.. they'll sit still to see if you would move. When they're still, pick them up slowly and lay them on its side.
I man-handled all my dats (largest is 16-17")

Precisely, put both your hands on both sides of the dats, with fingers grab on the belly, slowly lift them out of the water, lay them on the side, slowly put them in your tank, and release them.

After you've practiced with the indo, you can drive down to Florida and pick it up.. 650 and it's yours![]()
