Ok i'm moving my 150 gallon tank soon. It takes 1hour and 30 minutes to get to my new house. Any suggestions on how to do this. Will have to make 2 trips 1 for the tank and stand and another for the fish since i'm moving it in my honda element. Also my new house uses city water instead of well water like my old house. Worried about putting them in a tank thats not cycled.:nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly:

go buy three 50 gallon plastic drums, fill them up with your tank water and transport them as well.

As long as the filter and substrate is cycled with the correct bacteria there shouldn't be a problem. I agree with the post above me, but try and keep the filter and gravel in water too, to prevent the bacteria from dying.

depending on the filtration, it would take a 150g at least a week to cycle. bad situation for the fish.

if you can try to keep some of the water but not all of it. use water conditioner for the city water and remember to test your new water source to prevent any problems before they happen. keep your filter media and your substrate wet and you shouldnt have a problem.

yeah im on city water just treat it with prime and it'll be okay, i'd say get maybe one 50 gallon drum like the person said and fill it with ur current water but also get a bucket with a lid on it and put your filter media and any live plants and your decorations in the bucket to keep a lot of bacteria alive, substrate too if you can find a big enough bucket or use 2 buckets

The filters wont be a problem running a xp2 and a xp3 in that tank so easy to transport with water still in them. Where would i get 50 gallon drums at and how would i prevent them from spilling in my car D:? Also what would be an estimate price for a plastic 50 gallon drum (just lost my job and money is tight at the time)? For the plastic drum how many do you think i would need/want? I have prime and i always treat my water with it (even my old well water). I was thinking about leaving the sand in the tank for the move with about a inch or to of water in the tank so it stays submerged for the trip.

when i moved i removed the filter medie and put it in a buckett of aquarium water with airration 1.5 hours is a long time and you could lose your bactiria. also try to put your media in the same contaner as the fish. good luck

You could buy a few totes, and fill them with water? that way you can reuse them? or...reuse ones you already have once everything is moved?
