Moving over seas with fish and turtles?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it sounds like you have a good system worked out for your current situation. I didnt bring any pets to canada cause it cost A LOT. so be prepared it could cost you a lot of money.

and don't listen to the recruiter, The american military have killed thousands over the last 11 years in Iraq and Afghanistan for no apparent reason, they need more support so of course they want to entice you. there are many courses available online, where you can go to China or japan and teach english. whilst youre there you get free accomodation aswell as a pay check. I've heard that in China they actually give you the option to stay and be a full time teacher if you like it enough.

the worlds a very open place these days if you want to travel, you could do it by helping others less fortunate instead of maintaining a military presence on a country that is still suffering effects from the H bomb the same military dropped.

and may I add that being a military expat in Japan is not going to win you many friends either, they are a very tighly knit culture, 3rd generation koreans that are born in japan and so were their parents are still considered foreigners in Japan, even though they have adopted all japanese language and culture. just keep that in mind.

My recruiter wasn't trying to trick me and win me over, He was just commenting on my situation after I told him my story. It may not win me friends in Japan but it's still a country I'd like to visit.

Like I said, Zari they are just trying to rope you in, its what all the recruiters do. 10k to them is nothing they have millions. think of how advanced your healthcare system could be if the country wasn't wasting all that money on its military?

You seem like a really nice guy and I think you should think things through and look at all the pros and cons before doing something. I just moved to canada a few months ago, my passport is on its way to me right now, for the last 4 months ive been unable to work, drive or do anything. I don't know anyone and all my friends and family are half a world away. I had friends that turned into *******s too and after a while you don't even know what you liked about them anyway. trust me.

I'm fine with being roped in, The Air Force is nothing like the army or marines that's for sure. At the very least It will get me on my feet. I serve 4 years and come out with an associates degree and experience at the least and the ability to go to college paid for. It's the best option I've got and I may even like it and stay in longer then 4 years.

Thats true. I forgot how insane the prices for college are in America. good luck with whatever you decide to do dude, but it will cost you quite a bit to have your animals shipped and quarentined.

Look Strat I agree that both invasions were illogical. However, I never once pulled the trigger for any of the rhetorical diarrhea that any of the politicians were spewing. I know that Cheney, Bush, and so many more profited from the blood of everyone involved. But when I pulled the trigger it was in defense of my brothers and sisters in uniform. And while I was there my unit supplied food, water, clothing, medicine, and fuel to the locals. I lost part of my hearing but gained a traumatic brain injury from an ied we got hit with on a trip to deliver fuel to the locals. Escorting their fuel in their trucks to protect them from their people. Its war, horrific things happen, I was a combat medic, I know first hand, but the military is not the area to place blame. It is the politicians and the corporations who control them where that anger and blame should be placed. I like countless others, like Zari, was in a no win situation with my back to the wall. Poverty is a horrible situation to be in. Sometimes you do what you do bc you cant see another option. So lets veer back on the fish and avoid the politics please.

Thats a sweet sign up bonus. Did you hug your recruiter? My sign up was a plane ticket to basic. lol You may want to email one of the JAG offices on an AF post in Japan and ask them specifically what the importation regulations and procedures are.

I still have to go through MEPS which is where I'll put down for my job options which is why I'm looking into it a lot now, I got a 90 on my ASVAB so my recruiter said I qualify for any Enlisted Job the Air Force has. I'll look into sending them an email didn't even think of that.

On the web page for Yakota Air Force Base they have a whole section with several links "bring your pet to Japan." =)

Awesome. MEPS is no fun bro but its worth it.

Already been told its a nightmare many times lol. But cant join without going through it -shrug-

Well if you really love your oscar who am i to say right so here what I would do.
1. have someone watch over them for 1 month or however long it takes your to settle in
2. move to japan settle in and get a large fish tank (i think it cheaper there)
3. ship your fish over
