Moving soon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I live in NC kinda close to KY, I'm bout to move to SC.

if its under 6-7 hours you dont need a heater or pump. Just put them separately in plenty large enough bags with 1/2 air:water and then together into rubbermaids. All you have to do is avoid fast temp changes...dont park in the sun and leave the car there and dont blast your AC down to 60 degrees and you should be fine.

Its just going to be one straight shot, I think I may forgo the heater idea as I dont' want to melt the platic tub or the liner I am going to use I think i will still use the airstone just for good measure there are a lot of wrecks on I-85 and you never know how long you will be sitting in traffic.

The slow cooling of the water also helps to keep the fish almost "sedated" and calm. The temp change as long as its gradual should be fine for the fish. Just make sure to gradually re-warm them...not plop them right into an 80 degree tank. ;)

Thanks for the advice on the temp fish, I went to the LFS today and had to give up two of my big baby's one was my blackbelt the other was my gold saum. Only thing in the tank is my 2 Clown loaches, gold sev, jurupari, jag, salvini, and my syno cat.

Bumping this one up guys...I'm moving on Monday...I am not going to feed my fish after Friday is this OK? Also do I need to turn the temp down gradually to say 76-78 to slow their metabolism? Its at 81.6 right now, and I won't be having a heater as many members told me it was not needed and I think the same. Let me know how this sounds to you all thanks!

I never thought of this but its pretty important...do I need to check with Fish and Game becasue I am going across state lines, do you think this will be a problem?:nilly::eek:

If you're worried about the Sev and Jag fighting in that small space on the trip you may want to section the Rubbermaid with a peice of eggcrate too. And I think you're ok moving them across state lines, after all people ship them all over the country everyday.
