Moving soon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't think fighting will be a problem since I'm hoping that removing them from the tank and having no territory to dispute over will keep them peaceful. My jag has grown almost 2" in the past month though and he'd do some damage...

If you get an inverter you can use this to run your tank filters too. It'll keep your BB alive. This way you won't have to worry about cycling when you get to where you are going...Hopfully the PH is the same where you are going. different is OK just the shock if there is a big difference...

I have an inverter now, I've had one for a while. That is a great idea though to run my tank filters I hadn't thought of that:thumbsup:. I hope the PH is the same too I have a PH test kit so I'll check that out. I was going to also use the tank water that will be in the rubbermaid and using half of the tanks gravel in the bottom of it also. Will this cause a mini-cycle? I also didn't feed them yesterday and am not going to until monday if they take any pellets. Do I need to have the lights off in my tank now? Thanks guys just don't want to leave anything to chance.:)

good luck with the movie. I hope you dont lose any fish. Any by the way nice looking truck bro.

;)Fist thing I did was remove the 100lbs of sand and rocks from my tank...Any waste left in the tank will feed the filters during the trip and set-up on the other end...

I quit feeding my fish 3 days before the move. Took down the lights took out the heater and covered my tank with a light blanket.

I just put my Aros/Oscars/plecos in a large rubermaid with tank water and used my canister to circulate that...
I loaded my 50 gallon wet/dry in the truck and put the outlet to the inlet, filled it with tank water and let that circulate to keep my Bacteria alive.

Then I emptied out the tank the rest of the way loaded it and took off.

I just left the fish and the W/D and canister running while I set up the tank and stand and started filling with warm water from the shower
(take off shower head, put on hose fitting adaptor
[1/2" female pipe thread to male hose thread]
and the hose, and adjust the temp.
Remember to get some salt and stresscoat in there...

If the PH to the new water is close to the current water, acliment the fish like they were new and get them in the tank.
They'll be stressed but they'll be OK...
Just think of it as a very LARGE water change...:D

Wow zennzzo thanks for all the information I am going to do just the same. Here's the final run-through I think this will work. This weekend I am going to buy a rubbermaid (20-30 gallons?) this will house: Jag, Sev, 2x Daemon, 2x Salvini, 5x SD's, 1x HRP, 1x CL, and 1x Syno Cat. THe rubbermaid will have a 30 gallon rated pump and airstone. I currently have 65 pounds of gravel in my tank and plan on using roughly half of it since I don't like the current look of my tank. On my moving day which is monday I will take the rubbermaid out to the truck fill with tank water and gravel (roughly 30-40 pounds) and hook up my 205 to the rubbermaid and add fish. I turned the temp down from last night to 79 now and plan to get it at about 77-78 seeing I will not be using a heater. I'm going to turn the lights off after this post and use a black sheet to cover the tank does this sound good guys?

Ok sheet is over tank and temp is around 79 still I turned the heater down a bit just because I know the sheet will possibly trap a little heat. I will give you all an update once I get my computer and internet up in my new house.

Sounds good Steve,
The darkness will soothe them before the ride in the dark rubbermaid. I duct taped the lids down so my Aros wouldn't get out, and Lord knows they tried!!
Good luck man and have a safe trip, drink lots of red bulls or whatever your stimulant of choice is...:D TTYL ~Zennz.
