Hi Everyone,

I'm going to be moving to a new house in a few months and was wondering if anyone has any experience or tips on moving a Tiger Oscar?
The house is about 15 minutes away from where I live now... he's 12 inches and lives alone in his 100gal tank. What kind of container would you transport him in? Also, how long could he go without air?

I thought about maybe giving him away but... :shakehead

Any help is greatly appreciated!

if the fish is healthy id put it in a rubbermaid container, you are moving close and it wont be there too long rigth?
i moved similar to you with my 150 and my two oscars, i put them on a big rubbermaid and they where ok in there for like three hours until i finished setting back the aquarium at the new home.
i didnt use airstones, hearters or nothing, just water from the aquarium, it will be ok if its healthy.

big or small oscar? if hes small you can put him in a bag just open it evrey now and then to let in some new oxigen thats what i do when i buy fish from places far from my house andthe fish are on the roads for hoursjust put him in a biig bag

He's full grown (about 12 inches). I'm thinking if I tried to put him in a bag, he'd tear right through it. I may put him in a rubbermaid container and try to drain the tank and fill it back up at the new house as fast as possible and hope he makes it. He's quite the fighter... I came home from work one day and found he broke out of his tank and I found him in another room... I have no idea how long he was there but he looked pretty rough when I put him back... he bounced right back :)

he will make it, dont worry too much

15 mins is a pain in the ass, but not nearly as stressful as 3 plus hour drive. I moved 15 mins a month ago, only 20 out when I was moving, my 100 and 90, fish in buckets, rubbermaids, made it fine. I didnt use a heater or air until I got to the new place, and then just an air stone on them all while I set up quick. I didnt have any losses so Im sure you will be fine. Just go get a 30 or 40 gal rubbermaid and youre good to go. With extra set of hands.

No point in giving him away, the person you give him to will need to transport him as well so you are better off doing it yourself and keeping him.
