Did the person who sold this fish to you tell you it was "one of a kind"? If you research this forum you'll find it's not very quickly. In this hobby of fishkeeping specifically Flowerhorn keepers, there are standards or grades. It takes tons of experience and specific genetic traits to breed what the fh keepers consider high grade or mp's. They are hard to come by. I don't think anyone is saying your fish is defective just not what he hobby considers to be above the average fh geneticc quality sought after by most.

I don't think anyone would want to risk their high quality fish against a low grade. Although, my fh's aren't easy to beat;)

I never said my fish were high grade or mean, but if it boost your ego to say they would beat mine then go for it. Fighting fish is as despicable as fighting dogs imo.

not as despicable as devaluing another person's pet imo.

That's a nice JD but I agree FH is not worth 20 bucks but if you like it thats all that matters. He was harsh but you did ask for his opinion. All I can say is feed you FH well, lots of water changes and see what happens. My Avatar is a 6 dollar fh from an lfs. I got lucky.

Really? Fighting fish isn't as bad as telling someone their fish isn't anything out of the ordinary. Any more philosophies you want to share Confucius?

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder... But Since Jimmy asked for opinions on "Growing Potiential"on his flowerhorn he got The Wrong answer. As far as growing potiential Fh get approx. 8-15" feed it a variety of food and do regular water changes. I consider my favorite Flowerhorn Zeus (My Avatar) as an awsome Flowerhorn he even does flips when he begs for food. He is 2 yrs old and pretty much stopped at 12" But as rating him I say he's somewhere inbetween 4-6 when it comes to Rating the actual fish not its growing potiential
