Does anyone know what this fish is, it's on the just arrived list for my lfs and they are usually very accurate with their names. But when I typed it into google it says no results found. Any idea?

Lol even Google is clueless on this one. Sounds like something an African cichlid would be called. Got any pics? that would help a lot.

Haha I know it's not easy to get a no results found on google either. Unfortunately no picture on that on but I will take one when I go there later in the week. I was thinking it sounded like an African too

Funny you should mention this fish, it might be Steatocranus mpozoensis. I just picked up 5 wild caught fish at my local fish club auction tonight and they were donated by a local fish store.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of info available on this species though cichlidae.com (subscription only) suggests it may either be an undescribed or actually S. bleheri. Either way it is listed on IUCN redlist.

Ahh I saw it when I went in today it looked kinda like a tinanti cichlid but it was small so I couldn't get a good picture. Can you snap a picture of yours so I can see if it's the same thing?

I'll try, right now they are hiding quite a bit so I'm just letting them settle in.
