I happened to stop by a favorite doody spot for my dog and saw some large tadpoles so my kid hopped in to get a couple, and we ended up catching this.

I am just wondering if this would bother or be bothered by my sunfish's (4") or Rockbass (4")

Generally mudpuppies are not good mix with other fishes. The sunfish may nipping on the mudpuppy's external gills or the mudpuppy may nipping at the sunfish.

IMO the mudpuppy makes an interesting animal to kept.

we get them that big here in MN all the time.

I wish I can find some mudpuppy in Minnesota :( all I caught is tiger salamander larvas.

I agree with Butch; my sirens got gill-nipped a lot when I had Seminole killies in with them. Mudpuppies do all right in a tank if they have a lot of O2 and you keep the temps moderate; they are heat-sensitive, even compared to other salamanders.

How long is it? Where did you get it? It seems to be a huge mudpuppy!

its about 13", read they get up to 18"

this one is in bad shape, he is missing a front foot, two toes on his rear and his gills on one side look battered. he has not eaten since we have had him...about a week....we will be getting some minnows tomorrow for my fish so we will see if he will eat them, maybe he doesnt like worms...he was in an area with tadpoles, he has one with him, but hasnt decided to eat it...
