DONT put three silvers in atank together thinking it will be OK please! they will undoubtedly tear sheards from each other... expectily if from a young age i know the goldern rule with SA is 3 or more but thats bollox! it really should be 5 or more!

This is not, Ermgravy, a rule of thumb..I've had success with many a combo....it all depends on the fish, really..:)

allthough I agree that greater numbers improve the chances of success.

agreed...

having three silver aro in the tank is no problem. at longs u put them in the tank at the same time and its the same size. they will peck at each other first but later they would get along. i have 2 silver aro, 2 jardina, araipama and other i have np

You might PM johnptc, he got the african aro's TheTrust had and you can see them on the camera.. When Jed had them he never told me about any troubles he had with them and he kept 3 together. I personally have just 1 with my 2 Silvers and they are all cool together.

i mean id really like to give the african arowana a shot. itd be good if i could put some silver arowana with one as well, id like to do one silver and one african. but if they dont mix then idk. but what about tankmates? if i did tankmates itd probably be something like a tig or some LSN's. i realize that they have different feeding needs, but ive seen it done. ive looked up that guy the trust, couldnt find him..... if you got a link to him thatd be good.

ive had no problems keeping african aros with other fish that arent aros.
my african aro is with all the fish in my sig.:naughty:
hes currently the king of the tank though.
he can and will fight to keep everyone in order.

yeah but it looks like they dislike all other arowana..... but ive seen them with poly's and gar often, id probably put some LSN catfish with them. but people suggest waiting until the african arowana gets to a good size and acclimated b4 adding other fish. what do you feed?

i dont see any problem with putting them with other fish as long as they get their fair share of food.
i feed fd tubifex soaked in water, crushed fd krill, and he'll also try to eat shrimp and the small particles of shrimp from feeding my other fish.

i think some pacu would be some cool tankmates. since they are herbivorous too, maybe the african aro would scrounge off of that as well. maybe some pictus cats would be a nice addition to that too. if i could do like 3 african aro's, thatd be awesome, since they are pretty active, but i could do some gars if not.

personally,i wouldnt do pacus.
but maybe its because i just dont like em.
my african aro never showed interest in any vegetable matter.
not even algae wafers.
