i was gunna say that

these baby vitamins are fortified for human infants, not fish, so the level of nutrients they may contain may be too much for fish

I'm impressed that you took the time to type in all of that info. I've printed it out for future reference. I'm wondering about your choice of words in the first sentence though.

Human vitamins often huge amounts of zinc which can e hazardous to fish
I took that to mean you think that human vitamins often contain huge amounts of zinc and wish to state that zinc can be hazardous to fish.

I wasn't referring to adult multi-vitamins. The conversation was about BABY vitamins. Are you saying that ABDEC vitamins contain huge amounts of zinc?? I think they make a bottle with iron and one without iron. I don't remember zinc being listed.

I used to run a fish store. I carried the vitamin supplement by Aquatronics for customers too lazy to go buy baby vitamins. The product was always covered by dust when it arrived at the store. I had quite a few doctors as customers. Some were pediatric specialists. I asked many of them about using baby vitamins and in EACH CASE was assured that baby vitamins were superior to generic tropical fish vitamins AND, if purchased at a store that turned their product fast, would be much fresher too. I'm ready to learn something new though. Can you turn me on to a reference source to correct my view?

''I took that to mean you think that human vitamins often contain huge amounts of zinc and wish to state that zinc can be hazardous to fish.''correct.
''I'm impressed that you took the time to type in all of that info.'' Don't too impressed thats something you type once and save for future reference. Its part of a larger piece of work I have done elsewhere.
As for the zinc reference I'll need to dig thru my notes tolocate the information its in correspondence with someone about ''copper'' sensitive fish.-Anne

Neither of the two most popular oral baby vitamins, ABDEC or Poly-Vi-Sol, contain zinc. Poly-Vi-Sol does offer one choice with a mineral supplement, iron. They offer a bottle with iron and one without iron.
i've saoked hikar gold pellets in baby vitamins
The initial post discussed BABY vitamins. I realize that the thread title mentioned multivitamins but after spending a few minutes on the site most of us have found that the thread title often has little or no connection with the content OR has no indication of the content.
Barring NEW info from anyone, Beblondie included, I stand by my statement that BABY VITAMINS are a superior choice to the vitamins available at a LFS.

BTW, I've been looking for info on the nutrient requirements of freshwater tropical fish, if anyone has a good info resource I'd appreciate you turning me on to it. Dan

up up, Btw how is zinc harmful to fish?
Last night i tried Childrens clusivol, my son's multivitamins , found it in the fridge :)
so far my rays ate the fish soaked in the multivitamins.
