Got this little guy around a month ago from Wes around 3.5”. Now he’s one of the biggest fish in his tank at right about 8”. 4.5” of growth in one month is crazy to me! He’s already getting plump but I can’t wait till he gets nice and round haha. He’s the tamest fish I have in the tank.. being the only one that will actually eat out of my hand and greet me as soon as I enter the room. All in all so far I’d say they’re a great fish for monster keepers with personalities akin to an energetic RTC. ?

Here is what you have to look forward too. Apparently it wasn't uncommon to catch 5 footers back in the day, doesn't happen anymore of course. With the constant droughts, introduced carp and overfishing and ignoring size limits I wouldn't be surprised if they become extinct soon.
I'm surprised more people in here Australia don'tkeep them, a true native monster if ever there was one.

Trust me I can’t wait ?I’m hoping he at least hits 4’ and 40lbs in captivity but I can dream of raising a trophy bass. They really are great fish though, you could easily devote a whole tank to one as a centerpiece

Right now I’m building a 12x6x3.5 indoor pond for him, my rtc, and my laulau but who knows he might even need bigger haha

I love me some monster fish haha! Setting up a Crencichla tank as well. I have 4 Pikes coming wednesday and 2 Brokopondos to add to the big tank coming friday. The monsters never stop
