Found a small lake in Minneapolis crawling with Muskies. I was tossing a spinnerbait on the pier yesterday when I saw a ]v[onster emerge from the depths and roll on the surface. Shortly after, a guy that was fly fishing accidentally snagged a 14" Muskie. I tried deep diving crank baits, stickbaits, spinnerbaits, etc. I was thinking of trying topwater, but someone told me the water was too cold for that right now. Any advice on how to hook one of these beasts?

I'm too impatient for live bait, but if all else fails I'll try it.

people here in wi are having success righ tnow with top water lures. id give them a try. also, swimming joes work great!!! bulldogs have a lot of success too. big bucktails and musky spinnerbaits also.

A guy I work with fishing for nothing buy musky. I mean nothing else. If he's fishing, it's for musky. He even told me he doesn't know how to catch a bass or a crappie LOL.....

I'll ask him tomorrow.

Aren't muskys called "The fish of a thousand casts"?

I only know what works over here where the water is dark and "foggy" but I seem to have better luck with 4 inch yellow jig type worm than my friends have with all their expensive gear.. water here is between 14 and 19 degrees Celsius..

I don't know much if any about fishing for muskie... But if I was to try I would use a big jointed crank bait and troll around edges of weed beds at different depths...................... or something

I was thinking of trying a huge swimbait next time, or I might try that plastic worm idea.

ewurm, get a swimming joe. the dang thing swims so realisticly and is soft.
