Must quit coffee...help?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the headaches go away within a month of quitting the caffeine intake. however, you can somewhat ween yourself off by drinking green tea instead. then you can gradually lower your caffeine intake. in time, you may find that drinking various tea is a good replacement. don't drink decaf coffee...... its ridiculous. and for the record, I will drink coffee til i die. just saying :)

Good luck. If you have the option change your daily routine. Many of the cravings are associated with visual or auditory cues. I change my drive to and from work and gave up coffee when I quite smoking in January. If you smoke and drink coffee most people have to stop both at least for a while. Also excersise (sp) more, a lot more. Just like nicotine caffeine is an appetite suppressant, so with the headaches will come the desire to eat everything in site. Suffer through the first few weeks then it get better.

The next few weeks will suck but it gets better. I know the pain as my favorite thing to do used to be a smoke with coffee in the morning or a 12-pack and 2 packs of smokes on a friday night. Still drink but nothing even close to what I did, currently under the weekly safe guidlies for adult males. Where as before the local liquor store used to have my fix waiting for me every friday around 6:30 pm.

Cut down intake, and drink sometime you like. Water or juice.

I like coffee, i like alcohol. But i can never get enough juice. im a juice junkie

I found that smoking was a good way to stop drinking coffee. try it, it works.

but dont' come crying to me when you can't stop smoking

I made it! No coffee today. I feel like somebody slipped me a downer, but I know that will fade in time. Now the cravings make sense. I got home yesterday in a funk because I didn't know why I snapped and bought a Jumbo Jack on the bus ride home. I'm a health nut who likes to eat plants and fish and here I am eating the trans-fat bomb that kills people on a regular basis. *sigh* Now that I know to expect cravings, I'll be more prepared to beat 'em down. I'm just getting away from high levels of caffeine, as from coffee and energy poison drinks. I drink three cups of green tea every day for the antioxidant properties, but no more than that because of the flouride in it. Though I do wonder if the flouride detected in Green Tea is just from the tap water it is made with.... Anyway, day one of coffee-free living 10-8-09.

I just bought my own grinder and a french press. man my coffee ritual has never been better. nothing like grinding your own beans, and the french press doesn't filter out the coffee oils like a paper filter does. It's fantastic. best coffee i've ever had. I think I'm gonna go put the kettle on right now... I've got a french roast right now. So dark....so good.
