Anyone able to recommend a filter for a tank this size? I'm really wanting to get rid of the hob. not my style. i'd like a canister filter sometime in the near future. maybe zoo med 501?

Hey ciclid starter how much does that CO2 system run? Does it use the two packet system as well? Sugare and yeast pretty much from what I've read

Nope it's actually a small canister co2 like you would see powering a bb gun. depending on the size they run from 35-65 depending on region.

You could go with an in tank filter. In a heavy planted setup they are easy to hide.

thanks cichlid starter. i didn't care much for the internal filters. that's why i didn't get the fluval flora or ebi. i'd prefer to not have to put my hands in the tank to clean the filter. also worried about my shrimp getting sucked up and smashing small inverts behind the filter as they seem to gather behind my heater.

i'm definitely gonna have to check on the co2 kit. thanks again for the suggestion

On second thought I'm looking at the tank now and I could definitely fit an internal filter in there and hide it behind my java fern who will into hopefully flourish ;)

Thanks big fish :)

Ust bought a regulator for my old paint ball canister. I'm gonna instal it today. Stoked

anyone have experience with the fluval internal nano filter?

i was looking at them today and for 26 bucks they look like a better filter than most internals i have seen

Man, I just tried to sell you some cherry shrimp.

Bummer. :D

Anyways, looks good. Like the shrimp collection. UPDATE YOUR SIG MAN!

The only thing I would do is get a new filter. Having the HOB on a rimless...I dunno. Rubs me the wrong way. I would get an eheim with those fancy glass pipes. GL
