Update

Tank is cleaned and looking really good, no scratches on it. The stuff on the inside of the front pane of glass was tough to get off. After an hour or so with some Vinegar, razor-blade, and some elbow grease it is shiny and looking tip-top.

Here is the stand, going to sand the rough spots and paint it black.

That tank looks great now! I bet you can't wait to get it filled...

Ya, I am pretty anxious, but I have a lot of work to do first. I have to paint the stand, convert an old 30gal into a sump, build/paint a canopy, buy substrate, find drift wood, etc etc. I am going to take my time, it will give me something to do this winter.

Well, after a whole lot of craiglist hunting I found a keeper.

I picked up this 135g Oceanic w/ dual overflow boxes for $90.00. Although I had to drive 500 miles to get it. The trip was justifiable though, my father ended up with a 90g and a 110g, he got them for a great price as well.

Actually I ended up with a 120 and a 90. The 120 is what you went out to get, I was just a nice guy and let you have the 135 cause it was your birthday, and like I said, I'm a nice guy. LOL

Your memory is pretty sharp for an old man, I had forgotten that part...

That is what is called a "finder's fee" :)

The gracious old man has donated a Fluval 404 to the cause. So it sounds like I will be running a 30 gal sump, a AquaClear 110 and a Fluval 404.

He also hooked me up with 2x Stealth 250w heaters.

It seems the trick to setting up a big tank for cheap is having a dad hand over all of his craigslist finds. thanks Skerzfan

Nice tank! The built in overflow's are great for running a sump. You should be fine with the planned 8x sump turnover rate. Keep in mind you will not get the rated flow from your pump as you have the head height to deal with.

My dad, brother and a friend came over to move the tank down the stairs. Beers were drank, football was watched and all went smoothly.

I am leaning toward a Sen 900 pump by Won Brothers. Anyone have positive or negative feedback about this pump.

Also, I am planning on doing a 30g DIY sump made from a 30 gal tank. lately I have read that this may be too small for a 135g. Keep in mind I will also be using a Fluval 404 and a AC 110.

Each overflow has 2 holes drilled. I have no experience with overflows. My plan in to run the sump on the left overflow, and use the right overflow with my Fluval 404. Is there a preferred method of using dual overflows?

Thanks for the input.
