Wait for it.... wait for it....

No rushing. Fish don't like that. An uncycled dirty tank would be bad.

<--- hehe. 100th post. How lame am I for pointing it out.

I know, I'm not going to let myself sneak them in there when nobody is looking. Its taking every stitch of self control I have but I'm not going to risk killing them b/c I'm impatient!

I'd be proud of my 100th post too. I moved up to crayfish last night & squeeled "I'm a crayfish!" ... my bf was super confused & yelled back "wtf are you talking about?" I sheepishly mumbled "nothing." He just wouldnt understand. lol

when i put sand in my tank i get a bucket pour sand in and fill with water at the same time, you do end up with a lot of overflow sand however when i put the sand into my 55 there was not a bit of cloudiness and there still isn't.

hrm. I really do thing the cloudiness is coming from dirt ... the rocks were covered in mud. they looked like they had just been sucked right out of a river & dumped into a bag. I'm going to give it a few more days & if it doesnt clear up I will probably get a different filter pad to put in the top layer.

Looks like you have made some great progress, kudos!

It has been a bit of work, but its totally worth it!

sand usually is dirty, thats why i poured it into the bucket while water was being poured in, it helped get the dirt out and while waters filling up the bucket you use your hand and turn it over so that the dirt is stirred up and overflows over the side with the water.

a great way to clear up your water in a hurry that Ive found is take a submersible pump and connect some tubing to the outlet, then take either a mircon pad, or felt fleece like the kind you make blankets out of, and cut a piece off then take a zip tie and wrap it over the end of the tubing. just run the pump like that your water will clear up over night and it will all be trapped in that fleece instead of your filter.
